The Value of Free Expressions

–––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––––

What is Freedom?

In todays society the idea of freedom in all of its forms, speech, religions, opinion or idea, is often referred to and or used as a stance for right from wrong. This is due to the highly politically charged and era we live in today. I would argue with this statement. I feel as if we as a general population often separate our own personal opinions with traditional facts. And if not informed well enough we could be spreading misinformation. In order, to prevent misinformation one must be able to understand key points of free expressions. The core of which being the tolerance.
Tolerance is the source and root to proper and appropriate engagement. With true and proper etiquette comes an understanding, and with understandings comes progress. The very definition of the word when broken down according to the Webster Dictionary is tolerance the ability to endure mass pain or hardship or the ability to sympathize or with one who's very beliefs differ from your own. Though tolerance the individual self of others will be more likely to come to light and be more informative. It is also important to remember how damaging and dangerous free speech can be however.

With free speech comes a level of responsibility as it is beyond important to acknowledgement that said speech comes with a cost and form of judgement. We open ourselves up to not only personal criticism with some of our beliefs, but also that of the legal officials in the right circumstances. Many stories today touch upon and highlight the fact and idea that free speech can has opened criticism to many people as many exercising their rights of free speech and being heavily criticized for it as it is ethically and or morally wrong in a general stand. This is the grey area of free speech in a manner because in an example below someone is tweeting about the death, and or, implication of harm to befall a president, whom is a government official. In my opinion, this is the worse thing one can do with social media as it opens the doors too many questions and conversations such as. What did one mean by this message? What provoked them to propose such behavior? Why they felt so comfortable saying it? Is this a threat or a poorly framed and phrased joke? etc.
